Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic Dentistry (aka
Esthetic Dentistry) encompasses all dental procedures
that are designed to improve a patient's smile from an
esthetic perspective.
These procedures are
trans-disciplinary and can include procedures from
Operative Dentistry, Prosthetic Dentistry or even
Orthodontics.
Most commonly associated with Cosmetic Dentistry are
Veneers, white fillings (ceramic inlays and onlays) and
tooth whitening procedures (bleaching).
Cosmetic dental
procedures have become very popular lately, however,
since insurance coverage for these types of procedures
are marginal at best, they tend to carry a somewhat
higher cost to the patient.
